Keeping every member's handicap?

The records desk keeps the whole club's scores and works out running handicaps, the January and July reassessments, club records and claim sheets. The guide to how archery handicaps are calculated explains first handicaps, improvements and rounding, and handicap allowances covers the shoot.

Frequently asked questions

How is an archery handicap worked out from one score?

The handicap equations give the average score an archer of each handicap would expect on each distance and face of the round. The calculator finds the handicap whose expected score matches yours and reports the whole number the published tables show: the worst handicap that still reaches the score.

Does one good score give me a classification?

Not on its own. Since 2023 the Archery GB scheme counts arrows: a class needs enough scores at or above its threshold to add up to a set number of dozens of arrows in the season, at the right kind of event. The calculator shows which class a single score reaches; the records desk adds them up.

What is the allowance figure?

It is what a club adds to your score in a handicap shoot on this round, so that an archer who shoots exactly to handicap finishes on 1440. The highest adjusted score wins.

Is anything I type saved or sent anywhere?

The last round, score and category are kept in this browser so the page opens where you left it. Nothing is sent anywhere and no name is asked for.
