Golden Records on a Mac: what works, what it costs, and the alternatives
Golden Records Desktop is Windows only (Windows 7 to 11), so it will not install on a Mac without a Windows setup. Golden Records Online runs in a web browser, so it works on a Mac, for GBP 34.95 a year per club. Other options that run in a browser are archr, Archery Records, and this records desk, which is free and keeps everything in your own browser with no account.
Prices below were checked on 27 September 2026.

The paid products have things this desk does not, such as years of development, member logins, and direct score sharing from some archer apps. If your club already pays for one and is happy, there is little reason to move. The case for a browser desk is a records officer on a Mac or an iPad, a club that does not want a subscription, or one that would rather not put members' names on someone else's server.
Moving records across
Golden Records Online can export data as CSV, according to its help pages, and Golden Records Desktop exports reports to Excel. A CSV with one row per score, with the archer's name, bowstyle, category, age group, date, round and score, can be read by the desk's import, which lets you match each column to a field. Nothing is uploaded: the file is read inside the page.
Worked example: importing a short export
Here is a four row spreadsheet in the shape many exports take, with old category names (Ladies, Gents) that the desk reads as Female and Open. The desk guessed every column from its header: Archer as Archer's name, Bow as Bowstyle, Category as Category (Open or Female), Age as Age group, Date as Date shot, Round as Round, Score as Score, Hits as Hits, Golds as Golds (or 10s).
| Archer | Bow | Category | Age | Date | Round | Score | Hits | Golds |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ann Farrow | Recurve | Ladies | Senior | 12/04/2026 | National | 560 | 72 | 18 |
| Ben Hollis | Compound | Gents | Senior | 12/04/2026 | WA 720 (50m) Compound | 655 | 72 | 40 |
| Cara Mottram | Barebow | Ladies | U18 | 09/05/2026 | Portsmouth | 471 | 60 | 8 |
| Dev Rana | Recurve | Gents | U16 | 09/05/2026 | Short Metric III | 560 | 72 | 20 |
The import check added 4 members and 3 scores, and reported one problem before anything was saved: row 3: "WA 720 (50m) Compound" is not a round in the rounds database, so the score was skipped. Renaming that cell to the round's name in the database, WA 50m Compound, fixes it.
Common mistakes
- Buying the desktop product for a Mac. It is Windows only.
- Importing without checking round names. Round names must match the rounds database; the check lists every row it cannot place.
- Assuming an export includes handicaps you can trust. Import the scores and let the handicaps be worked out again under current rules.
- Keeping the only copy of the club's records on one laptop. Back it up.
Work it out now
Look up one score in the free calculator, or open the records desk to keep members and scores and print the lists. Everything stays in this browser; nothing is uploaded and there is no account.
